Sleep

A yawn comes. They saw that yawns are contagious. No one is near enough to catch this one. Still I yawn again and stretch really big. My eyes start closing even as I type this.

I remember when I could stay up all night. Fact was that I could not sleep. My brain was so busy. It just wouldn't stop. Now I write and I write and I write and finally

My brain finds that it has some peace.

Those dogs are so adorable :D

Sleep! Man I could use some sleep. I had and nice LONG and INTENSE week on campus. It's so nice being surrounded by writers. It's exhausting too!

Hi Jennifer,
I've been wondering how things were going. I guess you're as busy as ever. Sleep is a commodity I can't get enough of. I think I'll go take a nap now. :)

me straussI don't know why but everything you write makes me want to respond. What is that magic you do and how do you do it? Seems to me like it might be because you always strike such a common chord in every other life -- yawning now, tired.

Hi Ms. Roberta,
I so enjoy your response. They feel like I'm hearing from a kindred spirit.

Hi there!

Yesterday I missed the comment you deleted.

I hate it when that happens!! I understand & think it's good that you delete crazy, off-the-wall or nasty comments but sometimes they are so goofy that I enjoy them.

¿Could you have a place where you put them? sort of a "trash can" or "discards area"? Just a thought - maybe not a good I idea...

I enjoyed yesterday's post, wanted to comment but did not have the time. Thought it curious & interesting that both you & MM spoke so highly of tradition - when it seems that American culture/society has been nothing but mad dash away from it - sad in a way.

I guess 'tradition' is going the way of extended families? Maybe times will change & we will see a comeback of old but good ways of life?

Hi E,
The comment that I deleted was just comment spam -- an advertisement. :) Those are th only ones I trash.

MMand I talk a bit by email and we have a lot in common. I suppose our feelings about tradition is one of those things. Maybe the larger culture seems to be moving away from it, but I don't think that every individual is.

good - I enjoy the crazy ones!

>"...I don't think that every individual is."

certainly not all - there's also something w/ the midwest - different values than those on either coast - people from the midwest seem to hold on to traditions more so than most. maybe it's just my imagination...

Yeah,
We midwesterners come from good stock. :)

I think everyone, no matter where they live or who they are have traditions ... but they might not be recognized as such. The way you set your table, or the fact that you eat out every night ... are simple, every day traditions.

Traditions are important and give your life a 'safety rail' along your path ... so to speak. I was again inspired by Liz and my post yesterday was on traditions ... one that I wrote about a year ago.

My husband rests his weary mind by reading himself to sleep each night ... and if I could sleep and it was only my busy brain keeping me from doing so .... I'd get up and play stupid, mind numbing games on the computer. That is what works for me. It is different for each of us. But watching a gaggle of puppies yawn and ever so softely drift off to dreamland just might work too!

Traditions tell us who we are and help us hold onto life. You said it so well MM. I don't want to ruin it.
