Golden

And I'll just get on my bike, and I'll ride and ride. I'll follow my heart all of the way down that open road, peddaling with the wind in my face. And I won't care. And I'll care more than anything. Sometimes I won't even hold on while I ride. Balance. I'm a dancer I can do that. Sure I can.

I don't know how to ride without holding on, but once I didn't know how to ride at all. The sun might be in my eyes, but my eyes will be open, like my heart. I won't be hiding. It won't be dark, and I'll be alive, really alive—not just living.

I'll swerve and turn. I zig and zag. I sing out loud and be so strange that I'll think I'm weird. I'll wonder what I'm doing. I laugh at myself. I'll make myself worry. But not once, will I think that I am ordinary. Not even for a second.

That is golden.

Liz,

When you're peddaling down the road, with the sun in your face and open heart---you must truly be golden. Just remember to take in all the sights as you go towards your destination...

destination--destiny

This sounds great Liz, while you’re at it, let the pedals move those wheels like wings and take flight through the air like a leaf that blows in the autumn wind. On the subject of "Ordinary" We are all unique, shaped and molded by our own unique experiences; This uniqueness is something that we all have in common. Thus making us ordinarily unique. Another grand paradox in the world we live.

The longer I live - maybe the more deeply I try to live - I understand that there is no such thing as ordinary. No ordinary person, or experience, or day, or place. I think that ordinary is a word humans invented to qualify or quantify something that defies categorization. That's why pedaling down the open road after your heart is the only authentic thing to do. Letting go of the handle bars every now and then becomes a natural response to life for the one who sees/lives it in golden moments. Let's go for the gold, Liz.

Hello taorist,
Thanks for that connection--destiny and destination. It does feel like a golden opportunity to find the way for a day in the sun. Great to have you around again. So lovely to see you lively new blog.

Ah Travis,
That was something I was just talking about with a friend last who had read your poem "I am the one you are looking for." She remarked on how wonderful it is to find the words of another who has had the same experience.

We talked about how e are all the same deep inside.

Oh Dawn,
How that name suits you!

Life does have so many golden moments and most of them glow out of the hearts of my friends . . . and their eyes.

A golden post Liz. Makes me want to change my avvy back to that guy always just turning the corner, forever going someplace. :-)

Trée,
You are a golden one standing still, walking, talking, sleeping. There's no need to change a thing about you.

great post, Liz.

sometimes when i need to be alone for a while, i'll get on my bike and cycle to some dirt track or a park, just to see some anglers cast their lines into the sea at sunset. Strange how such things can lift the spirit.

I know Dsnake,
The sense of freedom and space must be exhilarating. The being alone with others who are alone in such a place much have a silent commardarie to it. How lovely, how peaceful -- like touching creation.

I simply like your writing and the smoothness it leaves me feeling as if I took the ride with you. I found you through Easywriter.

Thank you, My Pen.
That's quite a compliment. I like the way you chose to word it. I appreciate it very much. Easywriter is the best. I'm honored that you came from her.

I'm joining in! I'll go dance on my street to a tune only I can hear. I let the wind lift my hair and the sun put a glow in my cheeks and I'll think "Jeez how great it is to be uniquely me."

:D

What a darn wonderful thing for you to do! Maybe I'll get off my bike and join you for a while. Yes I think I will.
