Instinct

From before we are born, we have knowledge. We have the learning of our species. It comes from centuries packed into us in the form of instinct.

As infants our fingers wrap around things.

We know how to make noise when we need attention. We are drawn to mate to preserve our species. We to fight or flee when we fear danger. Our instinct overrides our reasoning.

We know before we say our names to cry when we feel pain, when we need.

We know things.

How do we know so many things . . . and still not know ourselves?

How I wish I knew the answer to that question. But I do know this. If I come to your blog, you will tickle my imagination in ways few are able. Blessings to you Liz. :-)

Oh Trée,
How it tickles my imagination just to have you come!

I wonder about that too sometimes. But the answer that usually comes is that I can know things because they are discreet events, facts, formulas, etc. But myself . . . well, I'm always evolving, growing and never complete. It's the static v. dynamic thing.

In a twisted way, I find that comforting.

Dawn,
I laugh to think that you use the word twisted to describe your thinking. When you are a guiding light to help untwist my own thoughts. Maybe we should get Chubby Checker and do the twist together. :)

Instinct, learning and lessons that we learn about ourselves are so different, yet they seem like they should be so similar.

Hi Dragonfly,
Thank you for coming to visit again. I wonder always at the wisdom of children and where it goes. :)

I think as we get older in some ways we remember more of our Self. I assume that sometimes makes us more confused.
When we're little we have a clean slate, all of the information is there but our minds haven't learned to Fear emotions yet.

If we do live many lives, and I believe we do, I think those memories come with us in our journeys to come. Seems that some things we wouldn't remember until something in this life triggers that memory. Seems like a lot of information to sort through doesn't it?

Hi Katrina

Yeah, it sure does seem like a lot of information and so much of it seems to contradict itself that confusion seems to be our natural state. :)

... perhaps very difficult to answer, but I can imagine that the person who wrote the post knows a lot, and I learnt that people that don´t know theirselves tend to think for the others with no respect , so, after all is very important to know the minimum about ourselves to respect the others also.

Christina,
You are wise to see that in other people. Some folks try to think for others because they are afraid of what they mind find if thwy look inside themselves. >

We just dont look hard enough. And oten what we find while looking for ourselves is too scary.

Yes, schizo, that is true for many, but if we let go of the fear and look again what we find is humanity and the stuff stars are made of.
