A Son

To have a boy, a son, a special gift I was with tonight. How can I explain the wisdom I am filled with having been with such a person as this one who is my son?

Children are put on earth to humble their parents. This one has been doing this for ages. I hear his voice and I am overtaken by the fact that I cannot out think what he is saying.

He is proof that God is in his heaven, and angels are everywhere.

Hi Michael,
Thank you for sharing your sons with me. I hear you love for them in just those few words.

Hi Liz,
i watched my daughter grow from a chubby little baby to a lanky lass, and she's still a special gift to me. Sure, she made me mad at times, but which child won't?

you are right. children are put on this earth to humble their parents. :)

Hi Dsnake,
There is also nothing like hearing your child laugh. I guess the investment is worth the return. :)

Liz,

Angels are everywhere. There's one sleeping in my room right now.

There's one reading this comment as well.

Angels come in all forms, sizes, sex, and ages.

Children put you in your place, but grandchildren is your time to return the favor. Spoil them and send them back to their parents all hyper. That will show em'

Hi Robert,
You're right about those angels that you mention. I happen to know a little about both of them. They're a couple of angels who have made my life better . . .

Janus,
I think what I missed most of all was your delightful sense of humor! I'm going to look forward to that all day today.

I know exactly what you mean. I have three sons and they are all very special, but the middle son has been blessed beyond measure with a "something so unique" that it is difficult to put it into words. He has always been a little "different" ... a little more polite, a little more enthusiastic, a little more wise, a little more helpful, a little more self-motivated, a little more generous, a little more excited about life, a little more loving, a little more sociable, etc. He is attending St. Thomas University in Houston and studying for seminary. He, too, humbles me by his wisdom and unique personality. Oh, and he can also play any instrument he picks up, but he is extremely gifted on piano, oboe, cello, violin, guitar, clarinet, and organ. I am going to miss him when he leaves this Thursday, but I am also exited to see how and where God is going to use his unique gifts and talents. God bless you and your son.

Hi Doris,
I pick up your comment 10 minutes before my son leaves. I wonder whether he knows that each time he goes he gets further from this home. I suppose not. At his age I did not.

My heart is full. My throat is lumpy. My eyes have water waiting to fall.

I will miss him just as you describe.

The world is so lucky to have him
