It's as if the child in me wants to run away from my writing work to play all day. Yet when I can play, the games I choose look exactly like my work. What does that mean?
That means I love you, whoops, well, I am crazy about you, but that isn’t what THAT really means.
Like you said, it means you love what you do, but you are tired of doing it. Oh sister can I relate to that.
I’ve been wracking my feeble brain to see if there is anything else that I can do for a living that would allow me to make what I make now, which by the way isn’t much, but enough.
It isn’t that I don’t love teaching. I do. It isn’t that I don’t love the kids, I do.
It is that I am tired of all of the hoops that we have to jump through, that seem to change names with the change of government administrations, and, well, all of the petty annoying parts that seem to go along with being an art teacher. Like supply abuse, misuse, and theft. Heavy on the theft in the area that I teach in. Also the clean up, and how older students are so dramatically apposed to cleaning up after themselves. I cannot tell you the times I have had to hunt a student down, drag them from their next class, and stand over them while they clean their table properly, or put up supplies that they have left out.
I’ll find a solution, I always do. I suppose this process that I go through, moaning and whining until I find a solution, gads it’s embarrassing.
No need to be sorry, Lori, I think we're feeling the very same way--just about different things. Time for relighting fuses and tending to our bruises. This weekend can't mean enough sleep for me.
Liz, it means you are one of those blessed souls who lives in the space between the notes. Reach out your hand my friend and pull me in to that very special place you inhabit.

anger!
HI gh,
Anger? Think so? I think it means I love what I do, but I'm just tired of doing it. :)

Oh gosh, so true. Hillarious!
Hi Melly,
We're weird beings us humans. I don't know that we ever know why we do what we do. Kind of silly if you ask me.
Liz
Human being is half verb! Your balance allows you multiple perspectives. Thanks for sharing so much of your process*
Hi Bradford!
Welcome to the blog.
Thank you for that perspective.
Sometimes it just feels darn crazy to me!

And I'm even whining in your blog. Sorry.

Hello, sweet friend,
I live in some space, for sure.

Who said playing is part of your writing work? It works for me everytime :-) Have some fun!
Hi Pamela,
Thanks I needed that. Some days just seem more like work than others. :)

It means you chose the right profession, which is great, because so few people do.
Anger? Hmmm. Not seeing any anger here. "Cept maybe toward Old Man Winter, and all midwesterners have had about enough of him for the season!
Hi Zilla,
Thanks, I don't feel angry really. Just tired winter as you say. Maybe the whole midwest should go on vacation for a while . . .
