The Sun Again

Today the sun came out soft upon the skyline, sort of sneaking up over the lake. It was there, though. It was like a sign of hope. The air seemed to move out of the way for it. The clouds that might have covered it, gave way or disappeared. It’s as if the sun was simply saying, “It’s time that you remembered that I am here. Yes, I am here.”

It was stunning, soothing. It was something to see.

I didn’t think much about it as my day came and went. Yet things were lighter, brighter. People seemed to have more cheer. The pace of life seemed slightly brisker, in a nice way—as if a lethargy had lifted. Maybe there is a chance that winter will end. Maybe spring is coming.

Today I saw the sun again. Today I remembered about hope.

I know I can always come here and read something comforting. :)

Hi Liz,
I hope you see the sun today. I hope that I will to. Right now it's too dark in Chicago to tell. :)

I had a similar experience yesterday, too. I noticed right away how the sun seems to affect not only me, but everything else around me. The clincher for me was riding home alone on the train. I purposely chose a seat facing west - the direction of the waning sun. And then I sat there with my eyes closed and let it soak over me all the way home. The winter sun is soooo soothing.

Hi Dawn,
You paint a lovely picture with your words. I see you riding the train home in the sunlight. It makes a nice way to start my day. Thank you.

Thanks. I did. In fact, it hasn't been this sunny for a long time. Good day to you.

Great Liz,
Every time you stop by, I get such lovely pictures of the island in my head, and of going bowling with you. :)

Hi Jennifer,
Space juice today? No, I think Virgin Tequila Sunrise. How are you? :)

Mmmmm...

I remember those early mornings out on the river rowing to the sun rise. Oh what a sight. Made getting up at 4:45 worth it!

For me, the moon is always more hopeful. That's probably because I prefer cloudy days to sunny days.

Hi Patrick,
Each day you sound more like my son. He feels the same way as you do. I think you two help keep the world in balance. :)

Isn't it about time for those little bundles of daffodils to start appearing at the end of the check out lane at the grocery store? I think I'll get some as soon as I see them, and I think I'll remember to hope.

Thanks, Liz. I think we all needed this reminder that the sun WILL shine again!

Hi Zilla,
It's great to see your shining face again too!
I think we're all looking for some spring in our step again.

Today, in Portland I felt the same, Liz. There was Mt. Hood and Mt. St. Helens. WOW! I've been in rain and grey for so long I had fforgotten why I moved here. Nice post

Hi Lane!
It's a great feeling isn't it?

It's almost a feeling of being clean again.

yes, Liz, it is the greatest symbol of hope, that fanfare for the eyes. Primal optimism at this time of year.

Hi David,

Yes,indeed it is. And don't we need it, just like the crocuses. We're ready for spring to come so we can bloom.

I hope to become like that lovely picture in your post.

Oh Lane,
I wish you hope. So much hope you don't know what to do with it. I find mine in the sky, and flowers, and music--lots of music and lots of sky and lots of flowers--and a few really special friends.
