Living on Layer 17

“Imagine that life is like an onion,” a friend said to me. “Most people live on that brown papery stuff on the outside. That ‘s where they go about their daily routine. They’re born. They have kids. They die out in the sunshine on that brown papery thing.”

“Yeah, so.”

“You like to live be thinking and talking inside somewhere down near Layer 17. You come out and have fun on the papery thing, but you live near Layer 17.”

Where do you live?

I think I'm browny through and through. Occasionally I might venture into level 1, but that's about it. And too much time in level 1 and you'll see me running back to browny, tail between my legs... :)

There's an outside...? ;)

If you asked my friends and parents they'd say on the very last layer. I tend to stay holed up and only come out when I need some human contact...but I say I'm not that bad and would chose somewhere in the middle. :)

Hi Melly,
Yeah, You're a sunshine lady.
Sunshine is a great place to be.

Hi Gone,
I should have told you. Yeah, there's a place where the breeze blows free and the sun shines and everything.

Hi Jennifer,
Ah, so you go deep and you play in the middle to. There's many things to be explored here I think. No wonder you write and you build things.

Can I be a scallion instead? Sounds more mischievous.

I think I live life as a potato. I live deep underground but I grow my own eyes, more than the usual number and they can see in the dark.

Hi Ned,
That makes sense to me. You do seem to see more than others see and see things from more than one perspective. As long as you don't mind being in the dark all of the time. . .

I like to think I'm down there with you on layer 17. The nearer the core the better.

Hi Graham,
Nice to know I'm not alone down here on Level 17. Maybe we should have a conversation.

Some many directions I could go with this.

“I hate onions.”

“The deeper you go the more you cry.”

“The more you peel away the more translucent it becomes.”

“The smaller you chop it up the less you notice it.”

… add your own.

Did I mention I hate onions? But I love life. I need a bigger onion.

Mark,
I can hear the joy of a brain that is stretching to feel it's life.

Hmmm, that small green tongue-like slip of onion shoot, just before it emerges. I think that's where I live, on the brink of becoming.

Hi 'Zilla,
Why I should have recognized from your questions that you were a self-actualizing onion. We self-actualizing types are an insteresting sort always moving forward becoming more never getting to what we will be, because our qestin is becoming, not actually becing. :)
