25 wds: Emotional Bank Accounts

25 Words or Less

I watch her
work tirelessly for others,
making withdrawals
from her emotional bank account.

No time for deposits.
No wonder she feels without funds.

------
25 Words or Less

I watch myself
focusing intently,
giving my brain control
of my emotional bank account.

Time to stop and marvel
before my funds start running out.

That's deep, Liz. I have found my own flaws in your words.

Tanda,
It's not a flaw to work too hard, too care too much, we all do it. What you found are reminders to smell the roses, to stop and marvel. To let yourself recharge your batteries.

reminds me of my sister who works too hard.. spending too much time for over-times but with no extra compensation. it not only makes her lose her 'social' life, but she lack time for herself too.

great poem, Liz!

Why thank you.
I think we all have a bit of the overachiever in us that we have to keep an I out for.

Great written stuff! I often find women are especially vulnerable from emotional drain. There are way too many things we have to care for and there is alwayas a little time for ourselves. I was so drained a few years ago that I had no friends, no hobbies..no nothing but responsibilities. But it's hard to strike a balance when it comes to your own sanity and your responsiblity... I am still searching for an answer.

Good job liz!

Thanks Yuna!
That means so much coming from you.
You're right. We're very susceptible to becoming our jobs, running ourselves into the ground in the process. I remember times when I felt pulled like a guitar string. No more if I can remember to stop and rest.

Liz
