Scribbles: The Dribbleglass Crayons

This Just In from The 65th Crayon:
An open letter on behalf of the forgotten crayons of Dribbleglass:

My dear readers, you probably haven’t heard of them. They haven’t made it into America’s 50 Favorite Colors. They don’t have names like Purple Pizzazz or Atomic Tangerine. In fact, you’re more likely to have seen them on Television. You know, a good looking man talks softly to the camera, walking slowly forward with a broken crayon in his hand.

It's possible for you to help. You can save these rejected crayons from the candle-making factory by just agreeing to give them a home. They are my friends. Their only crime is that they don’t have the most appealing names.

I write embarrassed by my crayon brothers and sisters. People have proven to be better than crayons in the name of compassion and in the compassion regarding names.

Case in point, Did people shun Englebert Humperdink for his awful name? Noooo. He was a famous singer. And Evil Kneivel. He was an esteemed daredevil. Moon Unit Zappa was accepted as a normal rock star’s child.

So I’m asking you to take these forgotten crayons into your homes. Here is a picture of two of them.

To see a few of the rest of the forgotten crayons of Dribbleglass, click on these words—I want to help the forgotten crayons of Dribbleglass.

Sincerely,
The 65th Crayon

ROFL
Exactly the colour of diaper doodoos, in fact when big daughter changed little daughter's nappy (diaper) in front of school friends, the poor littlun got renamed The Korma Kid.

Just wanted to share........

Hello dsnake1
Glad you like the crayons. Does tha mean you'll be taking one home? We're very fond of crayons here, you know.

HiCheryl.

Good story. Poor kid--however, I do believe our kids damage us more than we could ever do damage to them. :)

LOL Oh my I'll adopt a few :)

With such an elegant plea for help who could refuse?

Those are some...interesting names :D

Jennifer,
You always did have a soft spot for toys and especially crayons. Darth and the 65th will be so proud of you. :)

Morning Liz. Your post reminds me of a thought I often mediate upon:

"A child doesn't mind the ugliness of its mother."

Like a child to it's mother, I adopt all the crayons rejected as the most beautiful creations and leave the sorting of good and bad to those who trade in such things.

Thanks again for you being you and for you sharing you with us.

Sending a little "peace backlit by joy" your way. :-)

lol, not sure what mediate is. Let's try meditate instead while I go grab another cup of coffee. :-)

Blogger, we need an edit function please. :-)

"ME" Liz Strauss said...

Hi Tree,
You're right about that--all crayons are beautiful to someone. maybe that's why I didn't have a favorite color until I was 31.

And that "peace backlit with joy" volleys right back to you. :)

smiles,
Liz

Tree,
As soon as I purchase Google and thereby own blogger, you'll be seeing A LOT of changes around here. :))

Thanks to Trée, I've found another someone at which to direct my envy ;-)and admiration. Wonderfully evocative writing - especially like the 'favourite flower' post.
I'm hooked already :-)

Hi Autumn,

So glad to have you. You'll find that we're a really great group here. Lots of people with lots of great thinking. Seems to me if Trée sent you, you'll fit right in.

Thanks for your very nice words.

Englebert Humperdinck was born with an even less attractive name and well, how can you help loving anyone called Evel?

Maybe these crayons can help us see past labels. I have a favorite color myself, Mouldy Pet Stains Green.

It is hard to ask for a paint chip.

Ned,
How you never came to devote your life to the poor and outcast or became a figure like Ghandi is beyond me. You are altruism and generosity of spirit defined.

Liz what a wonderful post :0) and as a rescuer of hopeless animals and a current resident of the island of misfit toys, I just know I can provide a home for the crayons :0)

Hope you are having a wonderful day!

Hi Mergrl

WoW, I hadn't picked up that you live on the island of misfit toys. Certainly the crayons would love to go home with you. Of course, the 65th stays here, because this is his home.

So good to see you. Thanks for coming to visit.

I hadn't picked up that you live on the island of misfit toys :0) nothing dramatic, nothing specific, someplace I have always felt a kinship too, when you spend most of your life not fitting in (sometimes self imposed, sometimes not), its a good place to be :0)

oh yes the 65th must not be uprooted, but I would be happy to take the rest :0)

you have a great site, I am enjoying very much reading through your archives :0)

"ME" Liz Strauss said...

Mergrl,
Most of us here know what you mean by imposed and not imposed "not fitting." That's why I made this blog and called it "Letting me be" I wanted everyone to have a place they could leave the world behind and just be.

I'm delighted you're having fun reading through the archives. I had fun writing them. :)

LOL! The picture of a man talking to the camera, appealing for a broken crayon should be legalised as an alternative definition of "hilarious"!

"ME" Liz Strauss said...

Hi Eric,
I fear I am guilty of having just such a picture in my head. I was going to take the image further, but felt it would be in poor taste.

Liz

"... but felt it would be in poor taste". Classic!

"ME" Liz Strauss said...

Why, young Eric,
I'm sure I don't know what you mean.

Oh I so want one of those crayons!

Spank me pink ooo ooo no! The black and blue ones!

Tin Man's Johnson Silver is kind of neat too.

Can you imagine a box of crayons called Inappropriately Named Crayons? I'd be buying boxes of them.

Hi Deb,
You've got the link.
You go for it girl!

But you had better be nice to those homeless crayons, because we like crayons around here.
