Please Don't Stop

When I write on paper, I write differently. I watch my thoughts as they leave my brain, moving down my arm to my hand and come out through the pencil's end. The words come more slowly and I look closely at them.

Something happens when I write on the Internet. Perhaps it's the fact that know other people are writing on other screens words that I'll read. It simply be that I'm looking up as if another person is sitting across from me. I am more aware that I'm talking with my keys -- that my words are a doorway to relationships.

Bit by bit, word by word, I've come to realize that the writing I do here is more than recording ideas and thoughts. People stop. People read. People answer what I say.

Their words meet my words. We communicate.

My heart and mind meets others here.

I hope that she tells them too.

Lovely. Have you struggled with not being able to get the idea out exactly as it was in your head? Sometimes i feel that i lose that exact thing when it is put in words. And sometimes it is turns out much different than what i set out to write... A whole new idea...

HI bungi!
Yeah, sometimes I think I want to say one thing, but find out that my heart is telling me something else. I let the words take me where they need to go.

Hi Sandy!
Welcome. Writing is like any other form of expression. It takes practice to learn how to do it well. Write every day and you'll be surprised what you learn. Read great writers and you'll learn even more.

Liz,

It is because of the fundamental need for an exchange of meaning and the sharing of human experience that we as writers can never stop. Although we may take a break from time to time, we never, ever stop.

Thank you for a wonderful Sunday pick-me-up.

To write, to be read, to have comment gifted. What else is there besides some warm cookies and a big leather chair. :-)

Hi Liz. Don't be a stranger. :-)

Hi Tree!
I'm trying to find my way back here as quickly as I can.

Meanwhile, cookies for everyone!

I used to write a lot more. It got a bit harder after school with distractions, it got even harder when I couldn't "Liquid diet" ideas.

Now I have to just go off my own steam. It does help knowing that people read it though, I agree.

Please don't stop. I enjoy your writing. I don't always know how to comment on it but I enjoy it.

Hi Janus!
I keep my ideas on a paper pad under my mouse. Some get written. Most just smile back at me.

Hi Dr. John,
Sometimes I don't know what to say to me either and I can't get away from me. :)

Whether you write with pen on a piece of paper or with keyboard on a blank screen you always manage to write a little piece of your soul to share with your readers or just for you to reflect back on, and a beautiful soul it is too.

As always, a wonderfully insightful post into the creative process.

Easy,
You're one to talk. Your words are filled with the beauty of the person you are. :)

Hi Michael,
My other blog has been overtaking my time, but I've left my heart in this blog here. :)

I use my journal as a place to get the thoughts going, to prime the pump. It's also a place I can sketch through ideas.

However, as you noted, writing this way is slower and more deliberate...

I wrote my first novel long hand. Swore I'd never do it again, but then I couldn't help myself. :)

Hi Jamie,
Welcome!
I understand what you mean. The words are somehow more tangible when they going down through arm and fingers that way.

It's only recently that I've felt the same response from the keys . . .
