Raining Down Feeling

Rain. I like hearing it. It’s a shimmering sound, especially after the heat that’s been pressing on us, pushing on us, pulling us down. I like the softness that rain seems to make around this building I’m in. It’s cooling things down. It’s clearing the air.

Rain with the thunder over the lake. It reminds me of nature, especially after I’ve had a long day of computers and telephones, over the Internet, over the headphones, overwhelming me, making me wish I was alone. I look out the window and see the lake through the mist. It’s knowing that something is bigger than me. It’s knowing that I don’t have to do anything to make it work as it should.

Rain soft on the windows. It’s tiny droplets, especially those that seem to stop first to look in. Then they are running down, sliding down, tracing weird pathways on the glass for me. It’s a relief to see nature entertaining so.

Rain puts on a show that makes me rest easy. This raining down feeling brings me up.

I'm experiencing exactly this as I read it --- the oppressive heat that pulls and presses, followed by thunder and rain that only now is falling soft and gentle. I feel like at last I can breathe. It reminds me that there really is a season to everything, and that change can be gentle or blasting in your face, but all things do circle around.
This rain down feeling brings me up too.

Hi Dawn,
I'm delighted that you're having that rain falling down bring me up feeling too. It does seem to clear the mind a bit from the oppressiveness of all of the heat and heavy thoughts that have been hanging in the air.

in the tropics here, there is a lot of rain, sometimes too much. and yes, after a downpour, the world seems so much fresher, like a shower after a hard day.

the worst time to rain is in the morning when it is so difficult to drag myself off the warm bed to go to work:)

I would imagine that rain in the morning can seem like so much humidity at times. Everything good has an opposite doesn't it?

These misty thoughts remind me of why I so love the west coast. On the coast there are little sprite's that come in the night and splash and wash everything most every night so that when tourists get up in the morning to stroll the sites, all is in readiness -- the sun is shining and everything is washed, gleaming, and fresh. I love vacations where tourists are totally pampered.

Oh Ms. Roberta,
You make me long for a west coast vacation. That sounds like just what this mind could use. I can feel the cares falling off me, like water.
