Favorite Colors

People have always confused me on some level. I couldn’t find my frequency with most them.

I didn’t have a favorite color. Colors are all so beautiful, especially when they’re all together. Why would I want to separate them? How could I want to choose just one? I hardly know how to do that now. Still my answer starts with, “It depends . . .”

Most folks find that response to be the wrong one. They think I’m being difficult, or clever, or taking their serious question too lightly. They don’t realize I’m actually taking their question too deeply into my heart. I want to answer. I don’t know how.

That’s when the tables get reversed. That’s when I confuse most people. They think that I’m too intelligent not to understand something they intuitively know.

They look for a motive. Motive isn’t a nice word. It comes packed in popcorn made from the judgment of a negative brand. The nicest brand is Reluctance. On that shelf sits Resistance, Defiance, and Arrogance. But on the shelf across from it are the boxes marked No Experience and Not Enough Information to Decide.

If only my right-brain creativity would serve me. The words come so slowly and so intensely. That my replies sound like a defense rather than an attempt to say that my brain needs to find a way to explain.

I can describe the colors around what’s happening, but I cannot access the words.

I think in colors. How could I possibly choose one that is the best?

Most children don’t choose a favorite musical note or a favorite letter of the alphabet.

They’re all my favorite colors. They all live inside my head.

This explains why you are so prolific...

And so interesting...

Hi Robert,
I wonder what it that you're taking from what I said. But I know you well enough to know you heard the words that are between the lines there.

I so wish you lived so much closer so that we could have a poet's conversation.

I love the photo you chose for this post, Liz.

I don't have a clue what it's like to think in colors, but I do know what it's like to feel them. Every color and nuanced shade has a corresponding place in my body where I know it. It came together for me in the early 90's when I met someone who could see auras, and she told me about mine. I had never really known much about it before, but all of a sudden it started to make perfect sense.

I haven't thought about that in a long time. Thanks for sparking that memory

Hi Dawn,
It is a wonderful photo, isn't it? I could hang it on my wall and watch it. It moves inside my head and talks to me.

I'm so interested in your colors. They act so differently from my own. I guess that means you don't have a favorite either. . .

Actually, I do have a favorite color. But it's not for the reasons most people have one. My favorite color is green. It's because of the way that it flows through my body.
See? I told you it was different :))

Ah, what a wonderful way to choose a favorite color. I should look for a reason like that. My friend, Peg, says I'm drawn to a prism, a color palette of blues and violets and I am. I think that's because they were described as my aura.

I've never understood the importance some people place on "one favorite thing". It makes no sense to me. This applies to music, literature, people, pets, children and on and on...
I refuse to make the decision as to one thing I like best.
If that makes me indecisive, then so be it.
As always, a great observation and post.

Hi Michael,
Thank you so much for saying that out loud. I could never have a best friend or a favorite song either. Why choose one in a whole universe? That's dealing from a closing up kind of way . . .

Couldn't help but smile seeing the beautiful ripples...
Always take your words to heart.

when I was a kid I was able to say the rainbow was my favorite color. So many of my dreams are remembered because of the colors in them. Thank you for extending my spectrum, Liz.

Hi Bradford,
What a perfect answer! I wish I would have had access to that one. I suspect, though, folks would have thought me being clever. I didn't have enough charm, I fear.

The rainbow is such a wonderful color. I like it as much as you do. Thank you for telling me about that.

I don't have a favorite color either... When I was little it was Yellow. Just because I liked saying yellow.

I like Metallic blue and black cars, I like green money, blue sea water, and yellow moons.

Too many colors, can't decide

Funny, Janus. When I first read the word yellow in your comment. I heard myself saying it in my head. Then I read that you liked saying it. :)

It's a great reason for a child to choose a favorite color. I like your grown up colors too. I'm sure that's a short list. I'd be really interesting in hearing the long one.

Big Roy,
There's no world that is right-brained or left. Only the way that we look at. You can see with both sides of your brain. I can show you how. . . . It's more a case of not stopping yourself.
