At the End of the Day

At the end of the day
I am the wind
whispering through the air
a living voice
singing for the stars

My life is the breeze
fluttering past my cares
a human song
stars singing for me
I belong to the night.

At the end of the day
don't look for me
At the end of the day
I belong to the night.

I woke up this morning craving poetry. I went to my usual source and left unsatisfied. Then I came here, without expectation, and discovered your words.

At the beginning of the day
you are subtle streaks of soft light
that give way to Dawn.

Good morning, Dawn.
I was wondering whether I would hear from you today. What a lovely surprise to find you right here. I'm glad it was you at the beginning of the day.

I really liked that, Liz. Especially the way you ended it.

Thanks Doug,
I'll let you come see the stars. If you like that, then you belong to the night too.

Liz-

As much as I try to do the day thing (up at 4:30am 2-3X a week)I am, and always will be one with the night.
There's something comforting and exhilarating about darkness. I'm not sure I could explain it if I tried. But why would I want to?
As a musician for 30+ years, the night has been my constant companion. The world is a very different place at night.
I love the way you observe and comment on your world. You once again give me irresistible ideas.
Have a great night. Wonderful post.

Hi orikinia,
How do you always magically find the poems about the stars? I think you live in the skies and watch from there.

Michael,
I understand. I lived with a musician for many years. I like the peace and quiet and calm of the night time. People are more who they are then, less rush about then.

That is beautiful Liz ... It so well expresses my feelings about the night also. I am not a musician, but perhaps I have the soul of one.

At any rate ... the night seems to soften the world and beauty that is there seems to be saved for those that appreciate it.

Hi Mama,
I like how you said *the night seems to soften the world.* I think it softens the people in it some as well. People get more thoughtful at night. Some seem to even get more innocent. I like the night. It brings us closer to the stuff we are made of -- stars.
