A Lesson in Shining Silver

The crayon you really want to meet is Shining Silver. She’s a rare one. You’ll only find her in the box of 64 crayons. There’s a reason. Not every crayon could bring out the best in everyone the way she does. Anyone who spends the smallest time with her turns out a little better for it. It must be because she’s the real thing, the genuine deal—a silver crayon with a heart of gold.

The whole world brightens up when Shining Silver comes around. She’s a sparkler. Silver is laughter. Her voice makes music on the air. There’s a mischief in her walk that says it’s fine to play a while. Even girl crayons flirt with her. Shy little boy crayons follow her. Cranky old lady crayons who have 100 cats can’t help themselves, they give her cookies all the time. She’s just a decent color crayon. How could you not love her?

Got a problem? She’s the silver lining inside the cloud you’re seeing. She’ll find the bully who’s on your case and shout him down to slimy green. She’ll find a truck to help you move and dazzle crayons to pitch in with you. And while you’re busy packing, she’ll bring champagne to keep things sparkling and fun. Got a worry? Shining Silver will listen to what’s brought you down. Then she’ll put a shine back on the dreams that you thought were gone.

Sure she has days that she feels frazzled or too afraid to shine. Those days are special, because it's nice to know she needs us too sometimes.

Her friends are more than fond of Shining Silver. We talk about her and wish her here when she’s not with us. It’s hard to make a sparkly sky without her. A gleam in someone’s smile just isn’t the same if she’s not here. She doesn’t know how much the whole world needs crayons like her. Silly her, she thinks she’s just another crayon.
I can’t think about her without smiling.

If I grow up, I want to be just like Shining Silver.

I think we all want to grow up to be Shining Silver. Everyone aspires to be greater than they are as well as to be the individual who just makes everyone and everything around them better.

Hi Mojo.
You're right I think we all do want to grow up to be Shining Silver. This one who doesn't know it. Actually did. :)

Oh, that's so funny. At some point will there be a bathing suit crayon competition?

Gee Doug,
I hadn't thought about it. Frail Grey would look ugly in a bathing suit I'm sure. And Needy Pink would whine and be clingy and gullt producing all the way through it. So I'll have to see what other crayons show up.

If there is would you like to judge?

Liz

Cool. Some days I feel like the color silver, and other days I feel like the color purple, and still there are other days when I feel like the color grey.

Today, though, I'm feeling a little turquois and I can't quite figure out what that means!

She's the silver linning you can find in every situation if you look hard enough for it. The small memory of a loved one that will put a smile on your face, the friend that makes you smile when your sad, the neighbor who always has time to say hello, the good in this world.

I've met the Shining Silver crayon nquite a few times in my life. I'm sure we'll cross paths many more times in life.

Does Shining Silver have a boyfriend? Another wonderful post Liz. Do you serve tea around here too. I like mine green with no sugar please.

Hi there Tree,
Shining Silver has a boyfriend. He looks a whole lot like you. What color is your crayon?

Green tea is already there. Don't you see it?

Smiles,
Liz

Tonight Liz, it's purple. I think they make them on The Healing Planet, but I could be wrong. Come for a visit to see my purple. I think you would like it. :-)

Hi Tree,
I think I'll do that. Finish your tea first.

I LOVE ShiningSilver!
I strive & quietly I hope to BE ShiningSilver
The world needs more ShiningSilver
I loved this post
I think ShiningSilver is a most dandy and useful mantra to use when things appear dulled and wearying-just say ShiningSilver silently within, over and over, like Clint Eastwood doing his Mahrishi mantra from sAmaved, as he says "religiously" twice a day. But do ShiningSilver any time.
Be happy.
Be ShiningSilver
Ya know, that really felt good!
