Unconscious Questions

Scientists have proved that if we pose a problem to our subconscious mind just as we fall asleep, our subconscious will work on it while we are sleeping. Bigger problems can take more than one night, but the solution to the problem will become clearer with each night’s sleep.

I’ve done it. It works. In fact, I’ve made it a habit to pass important questions to my subconscious during daylight meetings, letting my subconscious “vet” them for flaws as I move the meeting forward. Working something like a virtual vending machine, my subconscious does its thing and about 20 or 30 minutes later, the answer occurs to me whole and ready to go.

Still I’m left with one mystery. I’ve done the math. I just can’t work it out. I’m starting to take it personally. What exactly is happening between my mind and me when I wake at 2:00 a.m., and my unconscious hands the problem right back to me?

I’m starting to think my subconscious is playing games with me.

Is this insomnia?

If it is, I have to admit that I love insomnia -- especially since being roused from sleep by a turn-about subconscious usually means I won't miss the sleep the next day.

So, it's like extra recess. It's free, wakeful time to do whatever I want or need to do.

Insomnia can be a brute if you really miss the sleep. If you don't miss the sleep, insomnia is fabulous!

Or, maybe you're not talking about insomnia, in which case, nevermind.

Oh Zilla,
You're such fun. I like extra recess too. Nothing's more fun than being awake in the middle of the night alone. No one's around to bother you. Maybe next time I'll email you.

I think my subconscious is a caffeine addict.

It wakes me up at 1 or 2am to make coffee. Often it tells me it is 5am just to make me comply. Then, when I have destroyed yet another coffeemaker in my sleep by making coffee without water or plugging it into the drain in the sink or pouring the coffee back into the pot, it wakes me up again and tells me that I am a fool for being up and I should go to bed.

My subconscious and I are having serious issues.

Ned,
So that's why you beat me here every morning. I see now. Your subconcious sounds like it has been hanging out at the same subconscious places as mine. Maybe there is a subconscious conspiracy underfoot, or would that be ahead?
