and his eyes let go the light
she sat breathing in his being
and the wonder of the sight.
She wrote poetry in the night,
and he did not
for he was sleeping.
And in his head, one thousand lights
played a music barely heard.
As she wrote poetry in the dark,
he slept the sleep of angel flight,
soft and gentle, kind and right,
the heartfelt hues of morning light.
Every sigh was deeply felt
within her very being
for she was seeing him complete
as she wrote poetry in the night.
And in his head, one thousand lights
played a music barely heard,
but heard
tucked and sleeping there between the very words
of the poetry that she wrote sitting by his side.
She wrote poetry in the night.

Now this is what I call a metapoem: a poem on the poetic scene of a lady writing poetry while her man sleeps nearby. Truly sublime :-)
HI Eric,
Thank you. It's okay if he's asleep. Guys are better behaved when they're sleeping, right?
That was really beautiful!
Liz:>It's okay if he's asleep. Guys are better behaved when they're sleeping, right?
Depends on what they are dreaming about :-)
Nice concept Liz, she sounds like a romantic.
Wonderful read.
Jennifer,
Thanks. I guess I have the moon on my mind.
Eric,
I'm getting to really look forward to your coments. You remind me more and more of two other Erics I know.
Ned,
Thanks. It's not the lovely literary poetry you write, but this one has been getting in my way. Everything I was writing was starting to rhyme. So I had to write a poem with some rhyme in it to get it out of my system.
Jennifer M,
Thank you too.
What I like about this is how much she seems to love him.

It's a lovely image Liz. The rhymes don't get in the way, and sometimes rhymes are just the right thing to do.
Thanks Ned.
Nice of you to come back to say that.
I've missed so busy, I've missed seeing you.
This is wonderful. I can see it and feel how soothing it is.
Thank you, easywriter,
Coming from you that's quite a compliment.
Smiles,
Liz
Love reading your poems.. short or long.. cuz I can't write any... ;(
Thanks Yuna,
Poetry is like writing in code.
It's also like writing music.
I bet you could write Chines poetry.

Liz
Beautiful, Liz. I felt like I was floating with the stars while I read.
Thank you Tanda,
I was sort of floating with the stars with I wrote it.

Liz
Could be a lover. Could be a child. Rhyme can be counter-productive sometimes but you handled it well.
Thank you, Mac,
I like the music of the language and I try to use rhyme carefully. I'm glad you caught the nuance that it could be a child or a lover that was sleeping. I'm not telling who. :)

Liz
