Breathing Room

Sometimes I have to remind myself to breathe.

I need to find more ways just to be. Not a philosophical search for existence, “to be or not to be,” but ways to set down my cares and breathe in a bit of life. My soul needs airing out now and then to fill itself up again. Unlike my body, it can’t get by on peanut butter sandwiches and milk. It needs trees, flowers, and the night sky, especially the night sky—stars to wish upon and space to let my mind wander aimlessly.

When I give my soul a little breathing room . . .
everyone I know gets nicer.

I'm printing this out to remind me who I am. Is this your first post (ever)? What a perfect beginning, now and forever.

I just know what you mean- but of course, I couldn't quite put it that way :)

I've recently started my own blog (this very month!) and I do feel much nicer :)

Shankarimurali,
Welcome.
It's so fun to have someone commenting on this my very first posting. It is so special to me, especially since you just started blogging. I am honored.

Garnet,
I responded to this the night you wrote it. I followed you as you walked the blog. It was a special time for me to share that walk with you and always will be a memory that will stay warm in my heart.

liz-

We all need that adult "time out".
& I'm with you on the night sky.
Back in '86, I played a club in Bermuda for two months. The island is @800 miles of the coast of the Carolina's so light diffusion is essentially non-existent.
The stars at night were the closest I've ever been to heaven; maybe even to God.
I've been telling myself to write down some of the many internal conversations I had on the numerous "midnight" beaches I sat on.
Maybe someday.
Ironically, the night sky tells me, "you're not alone." It's at once frightening then oddly inspirational.

Yeah, Michael,
I know who I am when I stand under the sky at night. I also know who I want to be.

Hi Liz!

This is a message from the future, July 24, 2007, to be precise.

I have this gut feeling that "Letting be me.." is gonna reach out to people who love to love.

I think I just a little bit nicer reading your post.

:)
