Sometimes I need to get so much done.
I think I can do more than is humanly possible.
I forget the meaning of the words humanly possible.
Then I have to tell myself that if I think I can do more
than other humans can do, I am a snob.
—me strauss Letting me be
I'll be pondering this for a while, attempting to determine what is "humanly possible" in my situation. I always envision a mysterious imaginary woman working circles around me. She manages to keep the house immaculate while single parenting heroically and working fulltime. Perhaps she isn't humanly possible! And competing with her is snobbery!
ReplyDeleteAhh Betty,
ReplyDeleteThat's it exactly. Quit looking for an imaginary woman and start looking at what a human one can do. BIG GRIN

Liz
Some people can do much more than others, juggling seemingly impossible schedules and managing quite well, even thriving on the stress of it all. It's in some and not in others. You aren't a snob, just very capable. It's an art I think.
ReplyDeleteHi Easy,
ReplyDeleteThank you for your sweet words of support. I do pretty good most of the time.
I use those thoughts I wrote in times when I think I'm not living up to my expectations to let me know that it's okay.

Liz
wonderful, Liz :0)
ReplyDeleteThanks mergrl.
ReplyDeleteIf you think you can do more than is humanly possible then you must love what you're doing. You're not a snob Ms. Liz. Actually, a lot of people would envy someone like you.
ReplyDeleteAh Taorist,
ReplyDeleteI wondered where you went.
I thank you for your kind words. I might just be peddling as fast as I can. :)
Things that look glamorous only look so from far off.

Liz
Hi Liz. Just putting a few bricks in the hole. Sometimes just being on your site is enough. I feel like it lives and breathes authenticity and that makes me very happy and refreshed.
ReplyDeleteThanks you my sweet child for just being you.
Hugs :-)
Tree,
ReplyDeleteYou give it back a hundredfold.
Everyday I seem to have a list filled with more things than anyone person should even attempt to get done...but if I don't try I feel like I fall behind. Heck I feel like I'm behind even when I get it all done...one of these days something going to make me slow down.
ReplyDeleteOh Jennifer,
ReplyDeleteI stepped away for coffee. I do hope I didn't keep you waiting.
I also hope in that great list of yours you have words like breathing.
smiles,
Liz
I'm working on it :) And other such words as 'break time', 'do nothing' and 'relax'
ReplyDelete:D
YEA,
ReplyDeleteIt's so nice to see your life vocabulary list growing. :)
Perhaps it is not a question of doing more than is "humanly possible" but striving to do more than you excuse yourself from. Perhaps I am not saying that correctly. Because there are times we should excuse ourselves, and times we ought not to.
ReplyDeleteThere are many things in life I could offer excuses for not doing, many in fact that others would excuse me for not doing. But the fear of not doing and then one day not being ABLE to do is enough to make me push some things.
Now as to the immaculate housekeeper who is the perfect PTA parent and makes crafts in her spare time while running a home business and doing spot-welding on the side... I don't know her, but if I meet her, I am going to get rid of her. She makes the rest of us look bad.
Hi Ned,
ReplyDeleteI think that what you're saying is about knowing when to give yourself a little slack and when to keep going because you might not have another chance.
As for that woman you describe no worries I already took her out back and messed her up some.
smiles,
Liz
