My Own Path Home

And gently comes the rain
that washes off the dust
I've gathered
to clear the air again
to show me where to stand.

And gently comes the rain
to make room for the dreams
I fathom
and i shall keep my name
to trickle off the fear to find
the hand that guides me here.

And gently comes the rain
to fill the place where kindness matters
and work is not for gain but for the glory of the day.

And gently comes the rain
while outside sunlight calls to me.

Though winds may push the river, I will carve my own path home.

  1. Rattle rattle in my head.
    Rain comes into my bed.
I start to grow and grow
    and grow, and the words
of MELiz teach me to flow
    as a river over rocks
    through dreams, up hills
    around corners, to live
    with intention, knowing.

  3. It does always seems so clear and fresh after a nice shower. You've made it symbolic here like something that clears away stuff that blocks our views, and covers up what really is there and makes things seem hopeful and more positive.

  5. "and i shall keep my name" and "I will carve my own path home"

Two very strong statements of self and identity. I like that.

I love rain, drizzly rain, torrential rain and the gentle rain that is like a fine spray so that it seems to be just a part of the air and the breeze.

  9. Liz, (Oh dear, what have I done? that could be taken several ways...)

Your words get in my head, and stay there, and rattle around. And they get me thinking.(growing)

    "And gently comes the rain
while outside sunlight calls to me."
    -rain inside your head? sunlight=optimism?

"Though winds may push the river"-though life may be uphill, the path strwn with rocks...,

"I will carve my own path home."
-your own path=with intention, around corners, with wisdom...

  11. Garnet,
Thank you for coming back and for taking my poem so seriously. This one does have a way of sticking in my head too.

Your translation both of mine and your earlier one both make beautiful sense to me.
    Thank you so much.
