In my humor and conversationI point out my vulnerabilies.
“Look here. Yes, and there.”
Some people use that against me.
They won't stop my laughing
Let them have their armor and ammunition.
I’ll stay with my humor and honesty.
Either way we all suffer slings and arrows.
The lighter I travel, the smaller target I'll be.

"Know thyself".
ReplyDeleteOr as Popeye said "I yam what I yam and that's all that I yam".
Popeye was a very philosophical guy.
Hi Ned,
ReplyDeleteIndeed Popeye was a very philosphical guy! How he got mixed up with the rest is a philosphical question in and of itself.
Only too true...
ReplyDeleteI feel that way each time I'm at a serious business meeting.
At work in general I think that people show less and less of themselves, trying to keep appearances and ward off slings and arrows.
Hey Melly,
ReplyDeleteIt's nice that folks like you seem to understand what I say. I like have people like you around me.
Yeah, I've given up on trying to figure out how that works and I'm sorry I ever thought I was smart enough to get it in the first place.
Some things in life just aren't for me.

ReplyDeleteReminds we of this quote:
When humor goes, therer goes civilization - Erma Bombeck.
Erma Bombeck!
ReplyDeleteThank you for reminding me!
"The lighter I travel, the smaller target I'll be."
ReplyDeleteI really liked that.
Thank you, Oliviah,
ReplyDeleteIt took me a while to make sense of the world. But I like it too.

me-Liz
Well Liz, you know what they say about great minds and all ...
ReplyDelete:)
Yeah Melly,
ReplyDeleteI do.
You are one of the most intelligent people I know.
So what are you doing thinking like me? :)
Can't talk, busy swelling up...
ReplyDeleteThat means you should too :)
Okay, going to read your other post. See you there.
You're a good 'un, Melly.
ReplyDeleteLiving so open
ReplyDeletebares me and strips me naked
of pretense. I am.
Mark,
ReplyDeleteHow lovely. How writerly.
So few words spent so well.
Telling so much so beautifully.
Making your thoughts poetry.
It is. You are.
Mark.
